Role Description:At Critical Loop, we’re on a mission to make power more accessible and efficient. As we grow, we're encountering new security standards and compliance requirements - and we’re looking for an engineer who can help us not just meet them, but build systems that are secure, scalable, and easy to maintain.We’re seeking a Systems Engineer who thrives at the intersection of infrastructure, security, and code. Someone who loves digging into standards, thinking through edge cases, and implementing practical, elegant solutions. You’ll play a key role in translating requirements into real-world systems: from infrastructure as code and authentication systems to build pipelines and secure services. Responsibilities:<ul><li>Interpret and implement security requirements (e.g., ISO 27001, CSIP, contractual obligations) across our infrastructure and systems.</li><li>Develop secure, repeatable systems using tools like Ansible, Terraform, and Cloud-Init.</li><li>Build and maintain authentication, encryption, and RBAC systems aligned with compliance needs.</li><li>Contribute secure software libraries and collaborate with other engineers to ensure adoption.</li><li>Automate the deployment and maintenance of required security tooling.</li><li>Lead the triage and resolution of security-related issues.</li><li>Contribute to general software and systems engineering as time allows.</li><li>Document your work clearly (what, why, and how) and help set documentation standards across the team.</li></ul>Requirements:<ul><li>A pragmatic mindset - security that enables progress, not prevents it.</li><li>Experience implementing security and compliance frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, CSIP).</li><li>Background in Linux-based systems (DevOps, SRE, Build/Release, or similar).</li><li>Proficiency in at least one programming language (Python preferred, but others welcome).</li><li>Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code practices and tools.</li><li>Willingness to learn new tools as needed - our stack includes Python, Terraform, Ansible, AWS, and possibly C/C++ or Rust.</li></ul>Bonus Points:<ul><li>Hands-on experience with our stack: AWS, Python, Terraform, Ansible.</li><li>Data engineering experience.</li><li>Experience securing hardware-adjacent systems. We deploy compute with our battery systems, not just in the cloud.</li></ul>
