You will design &amp; implement automation cells &amp; conveyance to ensure the system throughput, safety &amp; quality meet the requirements for production. You will need to work closely with external equipment suppliers and internal teams including Engineering, Quality, Production, and Maintenance to design, program, test and commission complex automation systems.  </p><p>  </p><p>You will:  </p><ul><li>Be a subject matter expert in industrial automation and control systems for the manufacturing engineering team. Participate in developing process and equipment concepts for RFQs to suppliers</li><li>Create hardware, software, safety, and maintenance standards for industrial controls used in manufacturing applications such as conveyance, material handling, dispensing, fastening, joining, inspection</li><li>Collaborate with equipment suppliers in selection of controls components, design of electrical cabinets, design of machine-mounted controls hardware, power distribution, and cable management</li><li>Own projects through their entire lifecycle, from initial concept generation through fabrication and production bring-up</li><li>Collaborate with equipment suppliers in software development for programmable controllers, human-machine interfaces, industrial robots, and machine vision systems</li><li>Manage interfacing of equipment with higher-level factory systems such as MES and SCADA</li><li>Integrate with the project team on all stages of equipment development from conception to launch</li><li>Track Overall Equipment Effectiveness and lead continuous improvement projects to improve metrics</li><li>Design Equipment for specific throughput capacity &amp; product requirements</li><li>Verify assembly drawings, P&amp;ID, electrical schematics &amp; construction layouts  </li></ul><p>  </p><p>You bring: </p><ul><li>Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Computer engineering or related field is preferred, a combination of years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree </li><li>5+ years of experience in an Automation Engineering role in the automotive industry</li><li>Proficiency in control system design including selection of components, creating power distribution and network architecture diagrams, creating detailed electrical schematics, documenting sequence of operation and functional requirements</li><li>Detailed knowledge of Allen-Bradley and/or Siemens PLC, HMI, IO, Drives hardware and software</li><li>Proficiency in programming PLCs using Ladder Logic, Function Block, and Structured Text language</li><li>Proficiency in Ignition SCADA software including advanced features such as scripting, database connections, enterprise administration</li><li>Knowledge of industrial communication protocols such as Ethernet/IP and IO Link</li><li>Experience in interfacing PLCs with peripherals such as variable frequency drives, servo drives, machine vision systems, barcode scanners, RFID readers, etc.</li><li>Expertise in interfacing PLCs with industrial robots including standard and safety IO to manage robot program execution, prevent collisions, and ensure operator safety</li><li>Knowledge of computer networking concepts – OSI model, managed switches, subnets, VLANs</li><li>Ability to program in higher level computer languages – Python, C#, SQL</li><li>Detailed knowledge of equipment safety standards such as ISO12100, ISO 13849 and ISO 10218</li><li>Familiarity with commonly used safety system components such as safety relays, light curtains, area scanners, guard monitoring and guard locking devices</li><li>Hands-on experience in executing discrete automation applications from concept through design, programming and commissioning</li><li>Familiarity with process equipment for common manufacturing processes such as <a href="https://www.kuka.com/ErrorPages/404?item=web%3a%7bAACADC55-46CC-4544-B0F5-846FD89C9559%7d%40en-DE">spot welding</a>, <a href="https://www.kuka.com/en-de/applications/coating-painting-bonding/automated-bonding-sealing">adhesive bonding</a>, <a href="https://www.kuka.com/en-de/applications/automated-welding/laser-welding">laser welding</a>, <a href="https://www.kuka.com/en-de/applications/joining-process-automation/laser-soldering-automation">laser brazing</a>, roller hemming, and mechanical joining processes (self-piercing rivets, flow-drill screw fastenings)</li><li>Knowledge of automotive equipment process layout – underbody, body sides, framing, closures</li><li>Familiarity with common conveyance and part handling systems such as powered roller beds, chain conveyors, turn tables, etc.</li><li>Working knowledge of CAD software including AutoCAD and CATIA</li><li>Strong organization skills – tracking schedule and open items, creating meeting agendas and minutes</li><li>Strong presentation skills and ability to communicate clearly and professionally at various levels both inside and outside the company</li><li>Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time </li></ul><p> </p><div>At Lucid, we don’t just welcome diversity - we celebrate it!
