This focused engagement will eliminate direct database and S3 access patterns by implementing secure API endpoints, enabling ISO 27001 and SOC2 compliance. </p><p><br></p><h2><strong>Project Objectives</strong></h2><p><strong>Discovery &amp; Architecture</strong></p><ul><li>Map current direct DB/S3 access patterns across production workflows</li><li>Design API architecture to replace direct access with secure, auditable endpoints</li><li>Establish migration patterns and sequencing to minimize operational disruption</li><li>Document completion of and gaps in security and compliance requirements for each API endpoint</li></ul><p><strong>API Development &amp; Migration</strong></p><ul><li>Build and deploy API endpoints to replace direct database and S3 access</li><li>Implement best practices in authentication, authorization, and audit logging for compliance with SOC2 and ISO 27001</li><li>Coordinate migration of workflows to new API-based architecture</li><li>Ensure backwards compatibility and zero-downtime transitions</li></ul><p><strong>Validation &amp; Handoff</strong></p><ul><li>Verify compliance with ISO 27001 and SOC2 requirements</li><li>Add and test reasonable API rate limits and guardrails to prevent operational downtime</li><li>Document API specifications, usage patterns, and maintenance procedures</li><li>Enable team to independently maintain and extend API infrastructure</li></ul><h2><strong>What You Need to Succeed</strong></h2><p><strong>Required Experience:</strong></p><ul><li>Strong backend development experience with API design and implementation</li><li>Proficiency in Python and experience with FastAPI, Flask, or similar frameworks</li><li>Demonstrated expertise with AWS services including RDS, S3, Lambda, and API Gateway</li><li>Experience implementing security controls for compliance frameworks (ISO 27001, SOC2)</li><li>Understanding of authentication/authorization patterns (OAuth, JWT, IAM)</li><li>Proven track record of system migrations with minimal operational disruption</li></ul><p><strong>Additional Qualifications:</strong></p><ul><li>Experience with data analyst workflows is a plus</li><li>Familiarity with audit logging and compliance documentation requirements</li><li>Ability to work closely with operational teams to develop requirements and autonomously deliver well tested solutions</li><li>Clear communication skills to explain technical decisions to non-technical stakeholders</li><li>Experience with PostgreSQL and time-series data patterns</li></ul><h2><strong>Contract Terms</strong></h2><p><strong>Duration:</strong> 6 months (may complete sooner)<br><strong>Hours:</strong> 30-40 hours per week)<br><strong>Location:</strong> Boston, MA Preferred, Hybrid Flexible<br><strong>Start Date:</strong> Immediate<br><strong>Hourly Rate:</strong> $100-130/hr</p><p><br></p><h2><strong>Who we are</strong></h2><p>LineVision is a grid-enhancing technology company enabling electric utilities to deliver affordable, reliable power and accelerate the electrification of the global economy.
