These markets include aerospace and defense, factory automation, air and water quality environmental monitoring, electronics design and development, oceanographic research, deepwater oil and gas exploration and production, medical imaging and pharmaceutical research.​We are looking for individuals who thrive on making an impact and want the excitement of being on a team that wins.  Job Description  We are seeking a Chemical Mix Technician whose primary function is to process crude energetic material by recrystallization.  In addition to recrystallization, the employee will conduct analyses of energetic material through various analytical methods.  The technician is responsible for keeping the production floor supplied through the handling and transferring of energetic material to/from production rooms that include outdoor travel to/from outdoor storage locations.  Detailed and accurate documentation is necessary to satisfy both customer specifications and government regulations. Your responsibilities may include but are not limited to:<ul><li>Set up and maintain laboratory equipment, instrumentation and labware/glassware.  Purity of product is imperative;</li><li>Cleanliness and maintenance of laboratory equipment is paramount;</li><li>Manufacture energetic material by recrystallization method.  This method requires mixing hazardous chemicals and explosive powders in a hands-on, controlled laboratory setting.  Explosive powder processes involve simultaneous operation of multiple pieces of laboratory equipment, including kettles, boilers, process chilled loops, vacuum equipment, air driven valves, etc. at specified ranges.  Various process preparation includes handling of explosive and hazardous materials.  Hazardous and energetic waste packaging must be done in accordance with DoD approved standards.  Some energetic processes require use of additional PPE;</li><li>Perform analyses on energetic material samples with use of surface area analyzer, particle sizer, vacuum equipment, etc.  Technician is responsible for drawing samples that create an accurate representation of batches to be analyzed;</li><li>Compile and interpret results on tests and analyses.  Report results to supervisor;</li><li>Transfer energetic material (production rooms, satellite locations, outdoor storage magazines).  As a large quantity generator, the technician will be responsible for coordination of explosive waste pickup every 90 days through an exterior vendor.  Frequent updates and recertification required on shipping profiles;</li><li>As a skilled employee, completes tasks in a resourceful and effective way;</li><li>Ability to perform any other job related task assigned by your supervisor/manager.</li></ul>Requirements:<ul><li>Requires a high school diploma or GED (Associate’s degree preferred);</li><li>A minimum of 6 months of industrial experience or similar training. Experience in a laboratory environment is a plus;</li><li>Excellent math skills are required;</li><li>Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook).  Must be able to calculate averages, uses sums and formulas in Excel;</li><li>Excellent verbal and written skills.  Legible handwriting is required;</li><li>Must have excellent time management skills;</li><li>Must be self-motivated to show up for work, complete work with extreme accuracy, and get along with coworkers;</li><li>Must be able to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time;</li><li>Bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, pushing, pulling, and lifting of 50 pounds is required;</li><li>Must be able to effectively communicate and engage with all levels of the organization verbally and in writing;</li><li>Detail oriented with proven ability to learn new processes and systems;</li><li>Ability to cross train on other programs in the facility;</li><li>This position requires the use of information which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR);</li><li>Visa sponsorship is not available for any position at Excelitas;</li><li>Please note that due to the requirements from the Department of Energy, U.S. CITIZENSHIP IS REQUIRED.</li></ul>#qioptiq  Teledyne and all of our employees are committed to conducting business with the highest ethical standards.
