<h2>Overview</h2>WWF seeks a Plastic Corporate Engagement Intern with demonstrated skills in project management, event planning and effective communication. The intern will work closely with members of WWF’s Private Sector Engagement department on the Plastic &amp; Material Science team. This internship provides an opportunity to improve research and project coordination skills in a professional setting, gain knowledge about corporate sustainability, material science, public policy, and environmental issues, and contribute to WWF’s mission. The work will support event planning for the annual WWF Plastic Summit as well as other project management related to corporate engagement best practices and programs that address plastic pollution. Candidate must be based in the Washington D.C.-Metro area for the duration of the internship and adhere to WWF’s hybrid in-office policy. *Please note that WWF does not provide VISA sponsorship to interns. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. This position is not eligible for employment visa sponsorship.  In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire. <h2>Responsibilities</h2><ul> <li>Support event planning for the annual WWF Plastic Summit (April 26-29, 2026 in Washington, D.C.) and support for other events as needed.</li> <li>Support administrative coordination, project management, and sustainability research for the WWF Plastic &amp; Material Science and Private Sector Engagement teams as needed.  Develop a variety of corporate engagement assets as instructed – including presentations, project management trackers, stakeholder outreach plans, email drafts, meeting notes and other materials as needed.</li> <li>Synthesize information from various technical sources and connect analysis to the broader WWF mission. </li> <li>Other duties as assigned related to project management, event planning, and corporate sustainability.</li></ul><h2>Qualifications</h2><ul> <li>Must be based in the Washington D.C.-Metro area and able to commute to the WWF HQ office in adherence with hybrid work policy.</li> <li>Current or recent graduate student in a relevant field such as sustainability, business administration, environmental studies, supply chain management, or packaging and material science are preferred; highly qualified undergraduate students may be considered. Those studying outside these areas are still encouraged to apply. </li> <li>Experience with managing multi-stakeholder projects and event planning required.  </li> <li>Exceptional attention to detail, as well as excellent research, writing, and analytical skills are obligatory. </li> <li>Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, both independently and as part of a team.</li> <li>Proactive problem-solving and good communication skills (written and verbal) are obligatory. </li> <li>Demonstrated familiarity with the environmental impacts of plastic packaging and/or material science and corporate sustainability strategy is preferred.  </li> <li>The ability to use Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Teams, Excel, PowerPoint and Word) is obligatory, as well as to be open to learning additional tools as needed.
