Job description<br>                                <div style="text-align:justify;">We are currently seeking a Student Assistant – Data Engineering for our international and diverse Climate Policy Team (CPT). The team is engaged in various projects on climate change mitigation, in particular on energy system transformation, the 1.5°C global warming limit and the evaluation of national climate action. This includes flagship projects, such as the Climate Action Tracker and the National Pathways Explorer, for which data is being processed and analysed in-house and then published on the respective project websites.</div><br><div style="text-align:justify;">As a Data Engineer you will play a critical role in designing, building and maintaining our data infrastructure, ensuring efficient and accurate data processing, storage and retrieval. </div><div style="text-align:justify;"><br></div><div style="text-align:justify;"><strong>Your Responsibilities</strong></div><ul><li style="text-align:justify;">You will help to build and maintain a data platform for advanced analytics and climate modelling, spanning data science and data engineering work.</li><li style="text-align:justify;">Design and build data pipelines that are robust, modular, scalable, deployable, reproducible, and versioned to ingest, clean, filter, and optimize diverse datasets.</li><li style="text-align:justify;">Contribute to operational tasks related to scientific data processing and quality control.</li><li style="text-align:justify;">Collaborate with data scientists and researchers to define data processing requirements.</li><li style="text-align:justify;">Contribute to the standardization of production data workflows.</li><li style="text-align:justify;">Set up metrics to monitor usage of the Data Platform.</li><li style="text-align:justify;">Monitor, anticipate, and resolve operational or data quality issues in data pipelines. Ensure data reliability.</li></ul>                            Your profile<br>                                <div style="text-align:justify;"><strong>Qualifications</strong></div><div style="text-align:justify;"><br></div><div style="text-align:justify;">You will ideally have the following qualifications and skills:</div><ul><li style="text-align:justify;">You are completing a bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, ideally with a specialization in Data Engineering or DevOps, or a related field.</li><li style="text-align:justify;">You have gained initial experience (internship or academic project) as a Data Engineer.</li><li style="text-align:justify;">Foundational notions in data modelling, data structures, algorithms, design patterns, optimization.</li><li style="text-align:justify;">Proficiency in Python.</li><li style="text-align:justify;">Strong database and SQL programming skills.</li><li style="text-align:justify;">A problem solver, a fixer, and a creative technologist. <p>Climate Analytics is a non-profit organisation based in Berlin, Germany with offices in New York, USA, Lom&eacute;, Togo and Perth, Australia which brings together interdisciplinary expertise in the scientific and policy aspects of climate change.
