Consider joining the Duke Energy team, where you'll find a friendly work environment, opportunities for growth and development, recognition for your work, and competitive pay and benefits.-  Selected candidate must live no more than 40 Miles from the assigned Resource Center in Nashville, TNThis position is responsible for all duties associated with and related to the safe, efficient and cost-effective installation and maintenance of natural gas facilities and appurtenances on both transmission and distribution natural gas systems per 49CFR Part 192 and Piedmont Natural Gas policies and procedures.Responsibilities &amp; Duties:<ul><li>Inspect and oversee contract and or company crews in the installation of pipeline facilities to ensure that PNG safety policies and procedures are followed</li><li>Inspect and oversee contract and or company crews in the installation of pipeline facilities to ensure that procedures and materials comply with plans and specifications</li><li>Ensure contract documents represented by working drawings and specifications are properly executed by the contractors</li><li>Interpret drawings and specifications for contractor and discuss deviations from specified construction procedures to ensure compliance with regulations governing construction</li><li>Measure distances to verify accuracy of dimensions of structural installations and layouts</li><li>Examine quality of installations for conformity to standards</li><li>Perform work coordination duties such as schedule coordination, inspections of “as built”, and inspection of contractor pay sheets for multiple company and contract crews</li><li>Maintain log of construction and inspection activities (via Inspection SharePoint site) and compare progress reports</li><li>When called for, perform role of the “Competent Person” on a company crew</li><li>Perform locate duties to determine location of existing gas facilities</li><li>Complete work documentation/records timely</li><li>Assist with coordination of pipeline emergencies</li><li>Provide zone and enterprise support as needed</li><li>Assist crews as needed</li><li>Perform other duties as assigned</li></ul>Basic/Required Qualifications:<ul><li>High School diploma or GED</li><li>Demonstrated mechanical aptitude, advanced knowledge and use of construction tools and heavy equipment.</li><li>Previous experience working with installation and maintenance of gas pipelines.</li><li>Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license</li></ul>Desired Qualifications: <ul><li>Two years technical school education or the equivalent job-related knowledge</li><li>Previous experience with supervision and or completion of supervisory training classes/certifications</li><li>Computer knowledge working in a Windows environment. </li><li>Demonstrated effective communication, verbal and written, and interpersonal skills and safety awareness.</li></ul>Physical Requirements:<ul><li>Must work outdoors in adverse weather conditions; lifting up to 75 lbs.; frequent walking, reaching, pushing, pulling, bending, squatting, stooping, crawling, standing, digging, climbing; works on uneven terrain, many times with heavy vegetation; manual dexterity (hand/eye coordination); keen eyesight; good hearing; good sense of smell; comes in frequent contact with insects and animals.</li></ul>Working Conditions:<ul><li>Field Mobility Classification - Work will be performed in various field locations, as needed, after the onboarding period. However, field employees are required to live within a reasonable daily commute to their assigned work location.  </li><li>Weekend and evening work as required.
