This role includes supervising machinists and operators, coordinating workflow, maintaining equipment, and driving continuous improvement in production processes.Key Responsibilities:<ul><li>Supervision &amp; Leadership<ul><li>Lead, train, and manage a team of machinists, CNC operators, and operators.</li><li>Assign tasks, set priorities, and monitor performance and productivity.</li><li>Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.</li><li>Maintenance of good industrial relations.</li></ul></li><li>Operations Management<ul><li>Oversee daily machining operations to ensure efficiency, quality, and timely delivery.</li><li>Plan, schedule, and monitor production workflows and capacity.</li><li>Ensure compliance with technical specifications, tolerances, and quality standards.</li></ul></li><li>Equipment &amp; Maintenance<ul><li>Monitor condition and performance of machines and tools.</li><li>Schedule preventative maintenance and coordinate repairs to minimize downtime.</li><li>Recommend upgrades or replacements of machinery and tools to move towards Industry 4.0.</li></ul></li><li>Process Improvement<ul><li>Analyse production data and implement lean manufacturing or Six Sigma practices.</li><li>Identify bottlenecks and implement strategies to increase throughput.</li><li>Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to optimise processes and reduce waste.</li></ul></li><li>Inventory &amp; Procurement<ul><li>Manage inventory of raw materials, tools, and spare parts.</li><li>Coordinate with purchasing for materials and ensure just-in-time supply for operations.</li></ul></li><li>Compliance &amp; Safety<ul><li>Enforce safety protocols and ensure OSHA or local safety compliance.</li><li>Conduct regular safety audits and training sessions for staff.</li></ul></li></ul>Personal Specification<ul><li>Proven experience (5+ years) in a supervisory or management role in a machining or manufacturing environment.</li><li>Strong knowledge of machining processes (CNC, lathes, mills, grinders, etc.).</li><li>Familiarity with manufacturing software (e.g., ERP/MRP systems).</li><li>Strong experience of Sales and Operational Planning.</li><li>Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and CAD models.</li><li>Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.</li><li>Strong understanding of lean manufacturing, 5S, or Six Sigma principles is a plus.</li></ul>#Qioptiq #LI-ON1  Teledyne and all of our employees are committed to conducting business with the highest ethical standards.
