Identifying slippage and gaps to the SPT executive team and proposing remedial actions.</li><li>Build relationships with Sustainability Stakeholders and ensure their views are considered in the formulation of investment and operational plans.</li><li>Support the SPT Sustainability Manager in developing greenhouse gas emissions reduction related sustainability goals for SPT ensuring these are deliverable and meet the wider needs and expectations of stakeholders.</li><li>Support the SPT Sustainability Manager in the development of a formal, long-term sustainability and environmental responsibility culture to better embed responsible business practice in wider Energy Networks business activities through close liaison with operational and investment managers as well as corporate functions to devise and deliver training, awareness and coaching to the management population.</li><li>Take ownership of reporting annually against key metrics and commitments for SPT’s Annual Environmental Reports.  </li><li>Deliver change projects to embed sustainability (carbon) considerations in business processes and decision making and improve our performance and reputation. </li><li>Support the sustainability agenda across the organisation by delivering a comprehensive service to all external and internal stakeholders including leading and participating in working groups and communication of SPT approach.</li><li>Lead standing and ad-hoc working groups on specific sustainability issues.  This is likely to involve SP or Iberdrola wide working and potential to become subject matter expert on specific sustainability issues (carbon).</li><li>Contribute to a communications and awareness plan targeted at all SPT staff and contractors.</li><li>Provide technical expertise to support Directors and the SPT Sustainability Manager.    </li></ul>What you’ll bring <ul><li>Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline.  Preferably with or working towards a post graduate qualification in sustainability, environmental or business management. </li><li>Awareness of sustainability requirements for an electricity network operator.</li><li>Prior experience in carbon management in construction projects, in line with the principles of PAS2080.</li><li>Demonstrable industry experience in a technical role (engineering / sustainability) on a range of major infrastructure / civil engineering projects with a good understanding of construction methods and processes.</li><li>Experience of tender, preconstruction or construction delivery phases of projects incorporating major, complex civil engineering.</li><li>Demonstrable experience of working in a specialist team and delivering cross business activities.</li><li>Demonstrable experience of liaising, negotiating and influencing at a senior level in business</li><li>In-depth knowledge developments in the sustainability agenda.</li><li>Strong technical knowledge and experience in one or more relevant sustainability topics (sustainable design, planning policy, circular economy, carbon/energy, nature-based solutions, responsible sourcing – particularly knowledge of carbon/energy, Net Zero, Science Based Targets, GHG Protocol, Scope 1, Scope 2 and Scope 3 emissions, offsetting, carbon management in infrastructure.)</li><li>Training and coaching skills with the ability to communicate technical information in a concise way to a non-technical audience</li><li>Analytical thinker with rigorous approach to data management</li></ul>Minimum Criteria  <ul><li>Degree level qualification, preferably in an environmental discipline.</li><li>Postgraduate qualification in environmental related discipline.</li><li>Membership of IEMA or CEnv</li><li>Understanding of the utility environment.</li></ul>What’s in it for you  As well as a competitive salary which is reviewed annually, you can also enjoy a number of other benefits.
