Your primary responsibility will be to perform high-quality paint repairs and refinishing on vehicle surfaces to meet stringent cosmetic and durability standards. This hands-on role requires a deep understanding of automotive paint systems, surface preparation, and application techniques. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams in Paint, Body-in-White, General Assembly, and Powertrain to ensure flawless finishes and continuous process improvements.</p><p> </p><p>You Will:</p><p>· Perform manual paint repairs on production vehicles, including spot repairs, panel refinishing, and full surface touch-ups.</p><p>· Conduct surface preparation such as sanding, masking, priming, and cleaning to ensure optimal paint adhesion and finish quality.</p><p>· Operate and maintain HVLP spray guns, paint booths, and other specialized tools and equipment.</p><p>· Inspect painted surfaces for defects such as runs, sags, orange peel, dirt, or color mismatch, and correct them using appropriate techniques.</p><p>· Apply basecoat, clearcoat, and single-stage paints with precision and consistency.</p><p>· Follow standardized work instructions and safety protocols, including the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).</p><p>· Collaborate with Quality, Engineering, and Production teams to identify root causes of paint defects and implement corrective actions.</p><p>· Maintain accurate records of repairs, materials used, and process deviations.</p><p>· Support continuous improvement initiatives by suggesting enhancements to tools, materials, and processes.</p><p>· Escalate process abnormalities or equipment malfunctions to the appropriate support teams.</p><p> </p><p>You Bring:</p><p>· Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in automotive paint application and repair.</p><p>· High School Diploma or GED equivalent.</p><p>· Proficient in color matching, blending, and refinishing techniques.</p><p>· Strong attention to detail and commitment to craftsmanship.</p><p>· Ability to follow detailed process steps repetitively while maintaining quality.</p><p>· Comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented manufacturing environment.</p><p>· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.</p><p>· Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs, standing for extended periods, and performing repetitive motions.</p><p>· Willingness to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.</p><p> </p><p>Preferred Qualifications:</p><p>· Experience in automotive bodywork and metal finishing.</p><p>· Familiarity with OEM paint systems and repair standards.</p><p>· Knowledge of paint chemistry, curing processes, and environmental controls.</p><p>· Previous experience in a high-volume automotive manufacturing plant.</p><p>· Certification in I-CAR, ASE, or similar automotive refinishing programs is a plus.</p><div>At Lucid, we don’t just welcome diversity - we celebrate it!
