Carbo Culture is a carbon removal technology developer on a mission to help mitigate climate change by permanently removing CO₂. We’re headquartered in Helsinki with a subsidiary and ops in Norway, the UK and the US. Our team is largely remote, but we have an office in central Helsinki where the Engineering team often meets on a regular basis. Additionally, we often have company-wide summits on an annual basis. We work closely together online across time zones using tools such as Slack, Zoom and the Google Suite.We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Systems Engineer to join our Engineering team in Oslo, Norway. This role is ideal for someone with some hands-on experience in systems engineering or industrial projects who is looking to grow their skills by supporting the development and deployment of our next-generation biochar plants. You will support our Owner’s Engineering team in Oslo, contributing to the design, documentation, and integration efforts across projects in Europe.This is a unique opportunity to join a pioneering team working on the world’s first large-scale biochar production plants, where you’ll be involved from early-stage engineering all the way through operations. KEY RESPONSIBILITY:<ul> <li>Support the development and management of system-level documentation, including design basis and requirement traceability. </li> <li>Review and coordinate documentation from contractors to ensure alignment with project specifications. </li> <li>Assist in the development and review of PFDs, P&amp;IDs, functional specifications, and control strategies. </li> <li>Collaborate with project engineers and cross-functional teams to ensure system integration across engineering disciplines.</li> </ul><ul><li>Participate in technical reviews such as HAZOPs, design reviews, and risk assessments.</li></ul><ul> <li>Support testing, operational readiness, and commissioning activities. </li> <li>Maintain clear communication between internal teams, vendors, and contractors to ensure alignment on requirements and deliverables.</li> </ul><ul><li>Contribute to continuous improvement efforts for documentation, systems engineering processes, and design practices.</li></ul><ul><li>Report to the Project Engineering Manager / Head of Plant Engineering. </li></ul><h3>IDEAL CANDIDATE:</h3><ul> <li>4+ years of relevant experience in systems engineering, plant engineering, or industrial operations. </li> <li>Exposure to EPC project environments (as contractor or owner) is a plus. </li> <li>Experience working with system-level documentation and structured requirements management. </li> <li>Familiarity with design processes such as HAZOP, functional specification development, or interface management. </li> <li>Strong collaborative mindset and ability to work with external contractors and internal specialists. </li> <li>Ability to structure and organize work clearly in a multidisciplinary, fast-paced project environment. </li> <li>Fluent in English; excellent communication skills. </li> <li>Degree in Engineering or a relevant technical discipline. </li> </ul>Nice to have:<ul> <li>Educational background or certification in Systems Engineering. </li> <li>Experience in waste management, oil &amp; gas, or onshore plant development. </li> <li>Familiarity with boiler plants, gas engines or similar systems.</li> </ul><ul><li>Background in working with Nordic partners or within remote-first teams. </li></ul>
