We are looking for an experienced Controls Engineer. In this impactful role, you will collaborate with best-in-class engineers to tackle challenging problems and help advance the future of robotics to improve everyday lives.Responsibilities:<ul><li>Develop robust, reliable and optimized production-level control software following safety standards (ISO 26262) </li><li>Develop proper and robust coupling mechanisms between planner and controller for expanded ODD including parking lot maneuvers through highway driving under various weather conditions and road surfaces</li><li>Investigate Machine Learning for vehicle dynamics and feedback policy to improve vehicle performance, drivability and reduced time for new vehicle platform bringups</li><li>Develop vehicle motion monitors to monitor trajectory tracking and actuator control performance for meeting functional safety requirements</li><li>Collaborate closely with engineers across hardware, base software, upstream autonomy, vehicle testing and system teams.</li></ul>Requirements<ul><li>Deep knowledge in vehicle dynamics, controls theories, control strategy development and testing</li><li>Significant hands-on controls development for L2+ or higher level Automated Driving systems</li><li>Passionate about solving real-world challenging autonomous driving problems</li><li>Fast to learn new areas and adapt quickly to new problems</li><li>Self-starter and good team player with strong drive and accountability</li></ul>Must Haves:<ul><li>MS in mechanical, mechatronics, electrical, aerospace, robotics, or closely related fields with focus on Controls</li><li>3+ years of experience in development of L2 or higher level automated driving controls software and integration with vehicle platform(s)</li><li>Implementation of classical and modern controls methods and/or ML for Controls</li><li>Strong embedded C (preferred) or C++ programming skills</li><li>Proven ability to collaborate within and across teams</li><li>Effective oral and written communication skills</li></ul>Nice to Haves:<ul><li>L4 automated driving system development experience</li><li>Powertrain and/or chassis controls experience</li><li>Functional safety experience</li><li>ASPICE experience</li></ul>At Nuro, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. For this position, the reasonably expected base pay range is between $183,825 and $275,975 for the level at which this job has been scoped. Your base pay will depend on several factors, including your experience, qualifications, education, location, and skills. In the event that you are considered for a different level, a higher or lower pay range would apply.
