Job Description:<h3>Job Summary:</h3>We are looking for a Senior Buyer to join our dynamic Materials Team, responsible for sourcing and procuring a wide range of components, materials, and services in support of manufacturing and engineering operations. The ideal candidate will bring extensive procurement expertise, a technical understanding of materials and components, and a strategic approach to sourcing and vendor management. This role is integral to ensuring timely, cost-effective, and high-quality supply to meet operational objectives.<h3>Key Responsibilities:</h3><ul><li>Coordinate purchasing activities with manufacturing and engineering departments to acquire materials in a timely and cost-effective manner.</li><li>Obtain materials, components, equipment, and services from qualified suppliers, ensuring alignment with technical requirements and production schedules.</li><li>Develop and maintain technical understanding of products and systems purchased; interpret prints, schematics, CAD files, drawings, and e-files.</li><li>Perform cost analysis and volume planning for major commodities and materials.</li><li>Monitor the cost, schedule, and scope of assigned purchases and subcontracts to ensure highest quality at optimal value.</li><li>Identify and develop new supply sources where existing vendors are inadequate or limited.</li><li>Recommend and implement cost-saving proposals, including make-versus-buy analysis, alternative sourcing strategies, and vendor evaluation criteria.</li><li>Evaluate supplier performance and manage vendor relationships to ensure continuous improvement and reliable supply.</li><li>Collaborate cross-functionally to resolve complex procurement and production challenges using creative, data-driven approaches.</li></ul><h3>Candidate Profile:</h3><ul><li>Possesses wide-ranging procurement experience and uses professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex sourcing and supply challenges.</li><li>Demonstrates a strong ability to analyze complex situations, make informed decisions, and apply judgment within broadly defined practices and policies.</li><li>Proven track record of success in managing technical procurement activities, particularly in the electrical and/or manufacturing sectors.</li><li>Experience in ordering machined and sheet metal parts using various technical documentation formats.</li></ul><h3>Qualifications:</h3><ul><li>Minimum of 8 years of related procurement experience, preferably in a manufacturing or electrical environment.</li><li>Proven ability to work independently on complex assignments and determine methods and procedures for new procurement initiatives.</li><li>Strong technical literacy and understanding of engineering documentation.</li><li>Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.</li><li>Ability to provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members as needed.</li></ul>Nextracker offers a comprehensive benefits package.
