The successful candidate will play a critical role in designing, modeling, and validating powertrain systems to support vehicle development and certification requirements.</p><h2><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></h2><ul><li>Develop high-fidelity powertrain simulation models including electric motors, batteries, inverters, transmissions, and thermal management systems.</li><li>Conduct vehicle-level trade studies and optimization analyses to maximize efficiency, performance, and range.</li><li>Update powertrain electrical, thermal, and performance model fidelity based on dynamometer, track, and real-world test data to support vehicle certification.</li><li>Conduct design and analysis activities to verify business and regulatory requirements will be met with high confidence.</li><li>Develop efficient, optimized code for real-time and faster-than-real-time simulation applications.</li><li>Translate MATLAB/Simulink models into production C code</li><li>Integrate physical powertrain models with vehicle simulation team for complete system analysis.</li><li>Collaborate with controls, hardware, and test teams to validate simulation results against physical systems.</li><li>Support model-based design workflows and continuous integration processes.</li></ul><h2><strong>Technical Requirements</strong></h2><ul><li>Expert proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink for powertrain modeling and simulation</li><li>Expert proficiency with optimization algorithms and numerical methods</li><li>Strong Python programming skills for data analysis and model development</li><li>Experience with automatic code generation (Simulink Coder, Embedded Coder)</li><li>Proficiency in C programming and ability to translate high-level models to embedded C code</li><li>Knowledge of powertrain components: electric motors, batteries, inverters, DC-DC converters, thermal systems</li><li>Expert proficiency with optimization algorithms and numerical methods</li><li>Understanding of vehicle dynamics and energy management strategies</li><li>Familiarity with Model-in-the-Loop (MIL), Software-in-the-Loop (SIL), and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing</li><li>Experience with version control systems (Git) and continuous integration workflows</li></ul><p>At Archer we aim to attract, retain, and motivate talent that possess the skills and leadership necessary to grow our business.
