<h1>Rover Team – Science Chemical Lead</h1><h1>Description </h1><p>The Queen's Space Engineering Team (QSET) is a large multi-disciplinary team consisting of students from all programs within Queen’s University. QSET designs a prototype Mars Rover for participation in the University Rover Challenge (for more information please visit urc.marssociety.org/home).</p><p>If selected as the Science Chemical Lead, you will direct the chemical assay program from reagent selection to field execution to characterize Martian analog soil by developing protocols, ensuring sample integrity, and translating raw data into actionable science findings. To keep updated with the project, the Science Chemical Lead must coordinate weekly meetings with the larger science team. If you require accommodations during the interview process, please contact qset@ engsoc.queensu.ca.</p><p><strong>Application Due Date: July 24, 2025 at 10 PM</strong></p><h1>Responsibilities</h1><p>Work with the Science Manager and ensure the following:</p><ul><li>Check procedures made by general members to ensure viability.</li><li>Ensure all members who want time in the lab get it.</li><li>Find new chemical tests.</li><li>Run chemical tests in the lab with 1-3 general members.</li><li>Report results of test to Science Manager.</li><li>Ensure all research and experiments are kept track of for future years to reference.</li><li>Take videos and photos (in landscape) of the testing and results.</li><li>Hold general knowledge of chemistry and biology to share with the team.<br></li></ul><h1>Preferred Qualifications</h1><ul><li>Ability to research topics of interest, outside of current understanding, independently.</li><li>Critical thinking and decision making, with a passion for engineering.</li><li>Knowledge of chemistry.</li><li>Experience in a chemical laboratory is an asset.</li></ul>
