You will be accountable for providing safe, efficient, effective, and cost-effective handling and packaging operations in support of the facility re-refining activity.This position is full-time permanent and based out of our North Vancouver Oil Refinery. The regular work schedule consists of 8-hour shifts between 6:00 AM and 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday.Specific Duties and Responsibilities<ul><li>Maintain a clean, organized and safe working environment.</li><li>Responsible for pail line production, tote &amp; drum filling.</li><li>Assist stock and production management, including monitoring and ordering packaging supplies, empty pails, lids, drum seals etc.</li><li>Support drum trailer loading and offloading.</li><li>Assist with month end inventory counts.</li><li>Understand and follow all established SOPs and suggest improvements.</li><li>Supply management for spill pads and spill kits.</li><li>Support with blending coverage, including loading/unloading of railcars/trucks.</li><li>Must be able to work from height, with the use of fall protection.</li><li>Provide warehouse coverage as needed.</li><li>Constant communication with other areas to achieve common goals.</li><li>Promote cooperation between team members.</li><li>Actively participate and own our GFL Safety program by reporting all near miss/incidents/injuries immediately to supervisor and/or branch manager.</li><li>Lead in continuous improvement by identifying all problem areas and generate ideas or solutions to repair.</li><li>Cooperating with all team members in achieving team objectives.</li><li>The Packaging Operator will be cross trained in 3 different areas (blending, packaging, and warehouse duties).</li><li>Other duties as assigned.</li></ul>Experience, Qualifications and Education<ul><li>Minimum High School diploma or equivalent.</li><li>Minimum of two years of related experience as a Labourer and/or Operator.</li><li>Experience with blending, rail and warehousing operations would be an asset.</li><li>Forklift experience would be an asset.</li><li>Knowledge of TDG and WHMIS is an asset.</li></ul>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities<ul><li>Solid written communication skills to complete the required paperwork.</li><li>Possess effective verbal communication skills to interact with Company staff, contractors, and customers.</li><li>Ability to multi-task, exercise good judgment and think proactively.</li><li>Work without direct supervision with only assistance from fellow team members and general operating and goal guidelines.</li><li>Excellent customer service skills, with strong work ethic and positive attitude to represent the GFL brand effectively and favorably.</li><li>Open to working various shifts, including weekends and extended hours to meet client needs.</li></ul>This is a safety sensitive position.
