This role is vital for ensuring that all contractual matters are effectively managed and that claims are handled promptly and efficiently throughout the project lifecycle. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in contract management and claims administration, particularly within the hydropower projects &amp; be well conversant with contractual matters arising on major construction projects, including the following tasks:<ul><li>Assist the Team Leader in contract administration of the Works contracts;</li><li>Identify &amp; advise on claim-oriented correspondence from contractors;</li><li>Review of contractor’s work program for compliance per contract and identify delays, draft notices on slow progress.</li><li>Evaluate claims related to extension of time, cost impact due to delays, etc.</li><li>Process contract variations &amp; advise on rates, price changes;</li><li>Advise/ Evaluate other cost &amp; time claims lodged by Contractor(s);</li><li>Managing dispute resolutions.</li></ul>With a track record of achievement in a related role, you will have gained your experience in a consultancy environment and have a passion for building trusted relationships to drive positive change and win new work.Suitable applicants will have/be:<ul><li>Tertiary qualifications or a related discipline (e.g. B.Sc/BE in Civil Engineering)</li><li>Minimum 25+ years of experience, including 15 years in construction contract management.</li><li>Familiarity with FIDIC Conditions of Contract for Works is essential.</li><li>10 years focused on contracts/claims for dams and hydropower projects.</li><li>Internationally or HEC/PEC recognized qualifications.</li><li>Expertise in complex claims, disputes, and contract negotiations.</li><li>In-depth knowledge of contract law and project management.</li><li>Strong communication skills (English) (written &amp; verbal)</li></ul>SMEC is an equal opportunity employer.
