This role will contribute to a range of near-term and next-generation projects at the intersection of Carbon Mapper’s science, product development, and mission-driven impact. The ideal candidate will actively publish findings both internally and externally, helping to elevate the visibility and influence of Carbon Mapper’s data products and analytical insights. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:<ul><li>Develop measurement-informed emission inventories across a range of sectors</li><li>Conduct multi-scale analyses integrating top-down and bottom-up data streams (e.g., area-flux mappers with point-source imagers)</li><li>Prototype instrument performance of next generation remote sensing measurements</li><li>Expand Carbon Mapper’s analytical reach into new emission sectors</li></ul> Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)<ul><li>Graduate degree in physical sciences, environmental sciences, applied mathematics, earth science, or another related field</li><li>Demonstrated domain experience in one or multiple methane emission sectors (e.g., oil &amp; gas, coal, waste, agriculture)</li><li>Experience utilizing remote sensing data for methane emission quantification</li><li>Ability to work independently on complex projects, while also collaborating effectively in a team environment</li><li>Comfortable managing and prioritizing multiple concurrent projects</li></ul> Must-Have Skills &amp; Experience:<ul><li>Proven experience developing measurement-informed methane emission inventories</li><li>Proficiency in methane inverse modeling at regional to global scales</li><li>Experience with methane quantification at local scales (e.g., “plumes”) </li><li>Familiarity with atmospheric chemistry and transport modeling</li></ul> Nice-to-Have Skills:<ul><li>Experience with atmospheric gas retrievals from passive remote sensing instruments</li><li>Familiarity with high-performance computing and cloud-based architectures</li><li>Proficiency with version control tools such as Git</li></ul>  LocationCarbon Mapper is headquartered in Pasadena, California, but we embrace the virtual office and are continuing to grow our team across the United States. CompensationThe total compensation for this opportunity includes a base salary range of $85,000 – $110,000.
