You understand the difference between Validation and Verification, and know what a V&amp;V model is.  You understand how to predetermine how each requirement later needs to be validated by Design, Inspection, Analysis, or Test.   That’s the up-front Systems Engineering work.</span></div><div><br></div><div><span style="font-size:12pt;">In the tail end of the project, you understand that to deliver a quality product you need to put it through its paces.  You need to receive the product and the requirements and pull together a comprehensive test plan that delivers on the promise of those requirements.  Can we test this ourselves or do we need to outsource some of this testing?  What is the series of tests that need to be performed so, in a statistically significant way, we can achieve our goals and meet our requirements with a confidence interval that meets our reliability targets?  You understand how, if this product is going to last 5 years, what is the accelerated testing necessary to achieve that requirement.  And you are able to author test reports closing out the test program so years later we can look back on the testing and understand what was the configuration under test, what was the environment, what were the conditions of the test, what were the pass/fail criteria, and did we meet the objectives of the test.</span></div><div><br></div><div><span style="font-size:12pt;">You put yourself in the shoes of the customer.  You are entrepreneurial and collaborative.
