POSITION SUMMARYThe Commercial Operations Manager oversees the planning, execution, and performance of the Commercial Project Team. This role is accountable for driving operational efficiency, team productivity, and project profitability across all phases of commercial solar delivery. The manager leads cross-functional coordination, supervises and develops team members, and implements systems to track and improve performance metrics. RESPONSIBILITIESProject Team Leadership &amp; Performance<ul><li>Hire, mentor, and manage the Commercial Project Management team</li><li>Ensure high performance through regular coaching and evaluation.</li><li>Support Project Managers with risk mitigation, schedule alignment, and project challenges.</li><li>Set and track performance KPIs for project managers and project teams.</li><li>Monitor and analyze schedules to drive efficiency in pre-construction and installation phases.</li></ul>Forecasting &amp; Departmental Coordination<ul><li>Collaborate with Sales, Estimating, and Field Operations to align project pipeline, labor capacity, and installation forecasting.</li><li>Participate in weekly and monthly planning meetings to ensure alignment between forecasted work and operational capacity.</li><li>Provide forecasting insights to inform hiring, subcontractor needs, and strategic project decisions.</li><li>Serve as a primary liaison between Project Operations and departments such as Warehouse, Procurement, and Accounting.</li></ul>Process Optimization &amp; Standardization<ul><li>Lead ongoing evaluation and refinement of operational workflows </li><li>Focus on improvements Safety, Quality, Customer Experience, and Productivity.</li><li>Document and standardize core processes to ensure consistent execution</li><li>Foster a culture of accountability, operational excellence, and continuous improvement</li></ul>Contract Management &amp; Financial Oversight<ul><li>Review project handovers and contracts to ensure clarity, risk awareness, and alignment with execution plans.</li><li>Support project billing and progress payments to ensure accurate and timely invoicing.</li><li>Review and approve change orders in collaboration with Project Managers to ensure scope, pricing, and documentation accuracy.</li><li>Track project-level financial performance and identify opportunities to improve margins and efficiency.</li></ul>Quality Assurance &amp; Best Practices<ul><li>Maintain high standards of quality by conducting regular reviews of field execution and office deliverables.</li><li>Implement feedback loops and training to reinforce best practices across teams.</li><li>Lead or support post-project reviews to capture lessons learned and apply improvements to future projects. </li></ul> REQUIREMENTS<ul><li>This position requires risk analysis, critical thinking, and the ability to provide solutions to the benefit of the company and project teams</li><li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills</li><li>Excellent organizational and time management skills</li><li>Operationally focused; and detailed oriented</li><li>Excellent people skills, able to manage, motivate, and discipline if necessary</li><li>Proficient with MS Excel, MS Word, Google Suite and Project Management tools</li><li>Familiarity with CRM systems - Salesforce</li><li>Must possess a strong work ethic and be able to lead by example</li><li>The candidate will have a track record of proven leadership abilities</li><li>Desire for company-wide efficiency, productivity, and harmony</li><li>Previous solar or construction experience preferred</li></ul>Don't meet every single requirement? A&amp;R Solar installs solar energy systems for homes and businesses across Washington and Oregon. We have offices and staff in Puget Sound, Portland, Bend, and the Eastern Washington area.
We have been designing solar energy systems for Northwest homes since 2007. Our system designers live in Washington and Oregon and have deep experience creating systems that maximize solar potential for each unique project.
Here are two other things that set us apart: We don&rsquo;t use call centers. We don&rsquo;t subcontract our electrical work. When you talk to an A&amp;R Solar representative, that person is an employee, perhaps even an employee owner. Ask them.
